The Best Kept Secret of the Rich

As individuals, our day at work and home are packed with many tasks. How effectively you divide your day for various tasks explains your zeal to be successful. However, it is essential to understand, which routine suits your body the best because a wrong routine can change your life upside down. When talking about success, we often wonder how the most successful people spend their day.

While Tim Cook starts his day by shooting out company emails around 4:30 in the morning, Steve Jobs finds it better to conduct productivity meeting at the beginning of the day. On the other hand, Warren Buffet invests 80% of his time into reading.

Irrespective of the task these people choose to start with, certain traits are common in all of them.

In this article we have shown you how the most inspiring people plan their day:

Benjamin Franklin

Self-improvement has always been on the top of the priority list for Benjamin Franklin, the founding Father of the United States. His brilliant thirteen-week plan includes the most basic yet essential virtues of human behavior. From cleanliness to temperance, he tracked his improvement on a graph every single day.

His strict routine for your daily chores includes a set time for work, food and sleep. Sometimes due to the massive workload demands of his printing business, he found it difficult to follow his routine, but his aim was too high for any obstacle. One of the unique strategies Franklin used to keep his body and mind energized, is “AIR BATH”.  Though many of us believe in the early morning freezing water bath, Franklin believed cold water works like a shock effect for the body and disturbs your work ability. According to him, bathing in cold air is much better than a cold water bath.

How to apply:  get up early in the morning, sit in your room or a chamber without your clothes for an hour or two (depending on the season). To enjoy this time of self-indulgence you can write or read something that can calm your mind.

Handle time

Narendra Modi

None of us can imagine how busy could be a Prime Minister’s daily life. Taking care of the whole country is not an easy task. However, somehow between all the difficulties, Narendra Modi manages to stick to a fixed daily routine.

Starting with early morning yoga and light breakfast, he believes in the perspective of “healthy mind lives in a healthy body”. He wakes up around 4 am and does not go back to bed till night. After his breakfast, he reads the latest news in all the national newspapers. Modi loves to come to his office at South Block, 7 RCR and work rather than sitting in the comfort of his home and work from there. Reaching his office on time is one the strict rules he drafted for himself. He arrives there by 9 am, completes his meetings, checks reports and take a walk all around his office.

A simple lunch by 11:30 am, and dinner by 10 pm helps him stay active all-day long. Being a busy Prime Minister, he hardly sleeps for 3-4 hours and restarts the day next morning with a fresh attitude.

How to apply: Cribbing about what you do will never give you the success you dream about. No doubt sleep is important, but if you leave pending tasks hanging, you will not be able to enjoy a sound sleep. Your mind will keep thinking about your pending work.

Jack Dorsey

When talking about some of the most successful people around us, we cannot overlook Twitter Founder and Square CEO, Jack Dorsey. Working full time for two companies at a time is not a simple task. Although his daily life keeps juggling between both the companies, he has a set routine that helps him manage everything simultaneously. He works for eight hours respectively for both the companies every day. However, in a recent interview, he said he is now more focused on the Square and do not follow the 16-hours routine on a daily basis.

I am not sure if you are aiming a similar kind of work routine for yourself or not, but you will have to admit that this type of dedication is quite impressive.

His work management skills used to help him stay productive in every hour of the day. According to his schedule, he used to dedicate each weekday to a fixed department in both the companies. If his Mondays are devoted to the management and smooth running of the business, he usually spends his Tuesdays in checking production quality and quantity. Wednesday for marketing and communication, Thursday for partnerships and Fridays for cultural development, is what his weekly schedule looks like. This way he managed to stay focused and work uninterrupted.

How to apply: Fix your calendar and try to stick to it as much as possible. Even if you see interruptions in your way, deal with it and keep reminding yourself what your scheduled work is. 16 hours work a day may sound workaholic, but if you love your work, you will be happy to work more than 16 hours a day. Do not forget your body and mind needs rest. So, if you are working 16 hours for five days continuously, take off on Saturday and enjoy your Sundays with family and friends.

You can choose any of the routines mentioned above or create one of your own, but make sure you take care of both your work and health. Without work-life balance, it is impossible to achieve success. Also, any routine which is financially driven or includes unpleasant restrictions is not suitable. To be successful and inspiring, it is important you keep your thoughts positive.
