Scarcity and Abundance

How to Replace Scarcity With Abundance?

Your success in life is greatly influenced by your attitude towards scarcity and abundance. Your mindset can decide which path of life you want to choose for yourself.

According to Stephen Covey, when an individual thinks that there are enough resources to share with others, it is termed as an abundance mindset. Alternatively, when another person achieves success in a particular thing, and you feel you have lost, it is known as the scarcity mindset.

It is interesting to know that how we see the world around us simply depends on our perspective, opinion, and feelings.

The following are some of the tips on how you can replace scarcity with abundance:

#1 Always show gratitude

Showing appreciation towards others does not lower your class or make you look bad. People will love if you show some gratitude towards them or their work. And doing this will not just make the other person happy but you as well. The power of appreciation is very high, and it will certainly give you blissful feeling when you do it.

What you can do to show your gratitude towards life is that you can jot down the points which make you feel happy every day. It does not mean that you need to write about something special. You can also write about the simplest things in your daily life such as your sleep, relaxing shower, and things like that.

#2  Always focus on abundance

As per Covey, there are plenty of resources for everyone, so you should quit the unpleasant habit of comparing yourself with others.

Always look for abundance in your surroundings which will consequently bring happiness to you. You can hang out with people who have an abundance mindset which will automatically make you feel more abundant than ever. But, if you think you lack such people in your life, then no worries! Just grab a book on “abundance” and read it. It would provide you with a lot of stuff which will help you have a positive outlook on life.

You can also listen to other people’s everyday lives. Ask them about their experiences that they have had throughout their lives. Just listen to them – do not provide them with your advice. Don’t forget that you are there only to listen to them and not discuss your life or argue with them. After that, you can evaluate your and the others’ perspective towards any specific thing and think of how you can change it for the betterment of your life.

#3 Affirmation of abundance

Affirmations can help you a lot by diverting your mentality from scarcity to abundance. This can happen by surrounding your mind with such thoughts and things which affects your mind in a positive way which helps to grow your abundance mentality.

Research shows that self-affirmation can decrease your stress and improve your problem-solving skills.

You can do it by writing down all the fears that you have regarding any particular subject that comes from your scarcity mentality and what will be the outcome of it. Afterwards, make another list and write down the exact opposite of what your fears are and the opposite outcome of it which you wish to have. Focus on the other list and feel content about the fact that you are filling your conscious mind and subconscious mind with abundance thoughts.

#4 Look for positivity

Having an abundance mentality does not at all mean that you have the conviction that nothing will ever go wrong. What it actually means is that when something goes wrong, there is still positivity somewhere to look out for. People tend to notice bad stuff quickly instead of the good stuff. This type of mindset has been into existence since early times. But, having positivity and abundance mindset can make you lead better lives than usual.

So, whenever you experience something bad, always make an attempt to look for something good out of it.

#5 Share what you have

It is said that the people who have abundance mentality are the givers and the ones with scarcity mentality are the takers.

To increase your abundance mindset, you must learn to give what you have. It will not only help the other person in need, but it will also make you feel good from inside. Another advantage of sharing is that you will get a chance to connect with somebody.

Don’t get bothered by sharing as you have got plenty of stuff, remember? Also, the more you give, the more you get in return. So, keep sharing!

#6 Cut down on media

Nowadays, media focus more on what you don’t have, and what you desire. By seeing the advertisements that show stuff that you can only yearn to have is a part of a scarcity mindset. These act as a barrier between you and your abundance mindset.

Hence, it is important to cut off such distractions so that you are left alone with your peaceful and abundance mentality. Indulge in only positive media that reflects the positivity of life rather than the negativity.

#7 Always be yourself

People with a scarcity mentality tend to compare themselves with others every time so that they can evaluate and see where they stand. If you have an abundance mindset, you don’t have to bother about anybody else’s success as you don’t need to compare yourself from them. You just need to be comfortable as you are and do whatever you wish to do irrespective of the outcomes. Never forget that you have got an abundance of resources and you are your ruler.

#8 Avoid speaking negatively

Whether you speak about your life experiences or your dreams, the way you portray your feelings and the language you use shows your mindset.

When you converse with someone and tell them what you desire, want to have in life or what went wrong in the past, you are depicting yourself as a person with a scarcity mindset. So, stop doing that! Don’t tell anything which shows your yearning for something and always have an abundance mentality. Instead, say that you are thankful for what you have in your life.

It might seem a little difficult to initiate, but once you begin, then slowly and steadily you will be a pro at it.
