What Is a Negative Thought?

A negative thought is considered to be a noisy thought which comes involuntarily. These thoughts bring out unpleasant ideas which lead us to obsessions and stress. It can be burdensome to handle and hard to discard.

Categories Of Negative Thoughts:

Usually, these intrusive thoughts lead us to do inappropriate things at disproportionate times. These thoughts can be categorized in three ways.

  • Inappropriate aggressive thoughts
  • Inappropriate sexual thoughts
  • Profane religious thoughts

What Causes To Think Negatively?

Negative thoughts are seemed to be dominant than our positive thoughts. Obviously, we need some effort to bring positive thoughts while negative thoughts come very readily and uninvited. Negative thinking is directly proportional to the education system and the environment we live.

If someone is brought up in a healthy, happy, positive atmosphere, there is more probability of being positive i.e. he/she will get positive thoughts in an easier way. While, if he is brought in a sad and hard (negative) atmosphere proportionally he/she is going to be negative.

One would view the world in a predominant mental attitude. Thus, the environment and the education are playing a vital role in the cause of bringing negative and positive thoughts to an individual. There is a fact that if a person is capable of bringing out the reason behind his negative thinking can overcome his negative thoughts and stay focused.

Effects Of Negative Thoughts:

Like its name (negative), it is obviously going to bring negative effects on the person with it. Let us discuss some of the prevalent effects of negative thinking.

Feeling Low:

The range of bad thinking could bring down one’s joy factor. It will bring bad and unpleasant feelings such as anger and frustration. It always keeps one in an irritated state. The extreme stage of this effect is anxiety and depression.

Physical Effects:

The pessimism inside us will reduce our energy of defense thus leads to some physical problems.

A person’s body would seem less attractive and dull when he possesses pessimistic thoughts in him.

At the extreme state of this effect, it can cause eating disorders. This disorder would either make a person to overeat or take less food below the physical need. This is because of the weak emotional state caused by pessimistic thoughts.

Sticking You In A Small Circle:

During a pessimistic thought process, we cannot think beyond a certain range which keeps us in a closed circle.

A person with negativity will have the least chance of advancing in his life. To achieve in an event, one must have the self-confidence, which is never going to be there in a negative thinking person.

It makes anyone into an idle state. Thus makes them go in a wrong way. As we know, an idle mind is a workshop for evils.

Negative thinking will not only bring bad effects on the concerned person but also to the others along with that person.

If a person is frustrated in a workplace, it will affect the mentality of the people around him. They might also get the bad emotional factors.

Effects On Time Consumption:

A person with negative thoughts will always consume more time on an activity. They used to waste a lot of precious time which leads them to be unsuccessful in any activity.

Common Negative Thoughts And Positive Approach To It

I’m Not Good:

This could be the sentence every negative people would think in certain situations. When you think as mentioned above, you are going to drain out your self-esteem and self-respect. Thus it brings out doubts to your mind every time you start a thing. Everyone in the world is good at everything, the only thing you need is confidence in doing that. So don’t limit yourself by thinking so.

To approach it in a positive way, you have to think that you are good and perfect in every aspect like everyone in the world. You must trust yourself first before you start anything.

Cannot Do This:

This is the next common thought. Think that you can’t do. Whenever a person thinks that he can’t do certain work, he will never do that. This is fact found by experts. When you think that you can’t, it limits your brain, and it makes brain not to try hard to achieve it.

To approach it positively, you should be clear that you can do anything if get involved completely in that.

I’m Misfortune:

This thought will come when you see a successful person without knowing his hard efforts behind. Thus, it brings an illusion into your mind about the luck and fortune. Thus, to approach it positively you have to know the hard work behind, and you have to believe that good things will happen to you.

I’m Not Stronger:

This feel would normally come to everyone in certain scenarios. Everyone must understand that no one is strong enough. Being strong doesn’t matter to lead a successful life. If you feel that you are not strong enough or you are weak, it will degrade your confidence. To approach it in a good way you have to think that you are stronger than anyone.

I’m Feeling Lonely:

You might feel lonely and feel that no one is caring about you. This might be a wrong and negative precision made by you. Someone is caring about you, but you may not know. This feeling will lead you to stay idle and lazy without working. To overcome this, you need to participate with the surroundings actively and believe that everybody loves you.

Some Tips To Overcome Negative Thoughts:

  • Find and execute the thing on which you are strong

  • Meditation and Yoga will bring out positive changes in you
  • Don’t get stuck up if you ever gone wrong and just move on by thinking that no one is perfect in the world.
  • Distinguish your plus-minus and try to change accordingly.
  • Be a responsible person; responsibilities make diversions from thinking negative.
  • Speak out about your problems with a trustful person. Sharing about problems with anyone will give out good results and relief in your mind.
  • The best way of wiping out a fear can be done only by facing the issue which brings out fear in you.
