#1 Calm down your mind

The foremost thing to do is to calm your mind which might be running fast during anxiety and depression.

  • You have to accept that not everything is up to you and you can’t control everything. You must not think about why did it only happen to you and why do you have to suffer from this. Tell yourself that it is not really bad and you can handle it very easily.
  • Try your best to get away from negative thinking. Though it is not possible to let it all go in an instant, you should feel proud of however close you get in relaxing yourself.
  • Think positive as much as you can. Don’t let your mind think that you are not capable of anything or you cannot cope with it. Trust your willpower and tell yourself that “yes! I can do it, and I will do it, there is nothing to stress about, everything is okay” and things like that. Trust me! If you tell your subconscious mind that you are the ruler of your mind, then no negative feeling can overpower your positivity.
  • You can also look for a pattern every time you get anxious or depressed. Try to ask yourself what is the core reason behind such anxiety and depression and note it down.

#2 Treat your body well

Taking care of your health is as important as your mind. Thus, you must not neglect it.

First of all, you should cut down on smoking, drinking, caffeine, and drugs. It is so because there are many people out there in the world that feel that alcohol, cigarette, and other elements can relieve them from all the anxiety but it is not very true.

Depression

Alcohol may relax you for a moment, but it will surely affect your health in the long run. As per the Dietary Guidelines of America, more than two drinks per day is harmful to male and females should avoid more than one drink a day.

Likewise, nicotine found in the cigarette is harmful to your health and may trigger your anxiety or depression. Though it is very difficult to quit smoking but let’s face it – it is not impossible. Quitting smoking will certainly reduce your condition. Hence, it is best to do your best not to smoke while you are in such situation.

This one is for all the coffee lovers. Now don’t ignore it and take this very seriously. The caffeine which is present in coffee is so high that it can deteriorate your condition. Let’s make you understand it more simply by taking an example. It is believed that coffee makes you more alert and wakes up your mind. So, do you really want to stay alert with all those anxiety and stress hovering around you? I guess now it would be easy for you to limit your caffeine intake and during the time of depression, you must ensure to avoid caffeine.

Eating a well-balanced diet helps a lot to keep your mind and body relaxed. Always remember to have a proper and nutritious meal and do not ever skip any of your meal. Also, make sure not to have junk foods as it will affect your health and will not help you in any way during such stressful period. Instead, you can have healthy snacks when you feel hungry.

Lack of sleep also plays a part in anxiety and depression. Your body and mind need adequate rest. Thus, make sure that you get at least eight hours of sleep, and when you are under stress, it is better to sleep as much as you can calm down your mind and body.

Whether you are under stress or not, exercising on a daily basis is good for your health. But, if we talk about the depression days, then you must make it a habit of exercising as it relieves stress and makes you feel better.
