What it means to be an entrepreneur
Even though there are hundreds of definitions for the word entrepreneur, there are only two distinctive outcomes that make an entrepreneur. Just because you bought into a Subway franchise, or dished out $500 to be part of Amway does not qualify you as an entrepreneur.
During our last board members meeting at productivityliving.com, we decided to evaluate the true meaning of an entrepreneur. To become a true entrepreneur, you would have to accomplish two end results. The first one is that you would have to start something from nothing. The second outcome is that you must impact millions of people at the same time.
The first candidate who qualifies as a true entrepreneur is Steve Jobs from Apple computer. Not only did he impact millions of people, he started an industry that never existed. The iPad, iPod, iTunes and the iPhone were all created by a simple idea. We can all remember the Sony Walkman, but what Steve Jobs did was take the existing idea (music on the go) one step further and transformed it into a billion dollar industry, with the iTunes Store and over 1 billion songs downloaded. Not only was Steve Jobs a visionary but he also had the ability to create something from nothing with a simple idea and as he would say connecting the dots.
I’m sure that if you think about it you can come up with a handful of other entrepreneurs who has had the same impact as Steve Jobs. In order to start something from nothing and impact millions of people you will certainly have a lot of negative feedback and resistance to whatever actions you take to reach the end result.
Below you will find 30 picture quotes that will help you become an entrepreneur. These are behavioral characteristics that are needed to achieve your goal as an entrepreneur.
